“Make Believe”
represents the first in my series of toy paintings. It began as an exercise, arranging different toys “in play.” Between the moments of action, a secret script only they know. I imagined them playing a kind of hide and seek, with a touch of magic in the light around the bug (in the middle).
It’s this sense of play with time and place that appeals to me. Sometimes it’s the moment just before or after an event takes place where my focus begins. The relationship between the objects and the toys are important too. In this painting, the blocks act as doorways.
The toys are painted with vibrant colors which make them stand out in the scene. My brush strokes are looser. The panel is rougher. These things give some vibrancy to the painting. I know some people just love that.
Prints are made using archival pigment inks on high-quality, archival grade, acid-free, 330 gsm, 17mil paper.

Around the art is a 1” white border.
